Battery fire at famous car factory sends two to hospital

On Thursday, a battery exploded at Koenigsegg's development department. The subsequent fire meant that two people had to go to hospital.

An explosion and subsequent battery fire at the Swedish car manufacturer Koenigsegg resulted in two people being hospitalized. The incident took place in the company's development department in Ängelholm.

The fire started around 17:30 when one or more lithium-ion batteries ignited after an explosion. The rescue service responded promptly and sent six ambulances and twelve fire trucks to the scene.

Halldora von Koenigsegg stated to Bjare.nu that the fire was limited to a small part of the development department and was quickly brought under control.

According to SVT, two people were taken to hospital shortly after inhaling smoke from the fire. Koenigsegg later issued a press release confirming that one person was hospitalized and out of danger.

Erik Nilsson, on duty at HD, confirmed that the fire had been extinguished and that ventilation had been initiated at the site. He added that the fire had not been extensive, but that there had been significant ember development.

Koenigsegg stated in a press release that the damage to the building was minimal and that work will resume as early as Friday. However, some areas of the factory may have been affected by slightly longer 'downtime', as it is called.

The fire at the Swedish car factory is the latest in a series of accidents that have hit several different car factories.

However, it was immediately more serious at American Rivian, where 50 brand new electric cars were destroyed in a major fire. All because one of the cars was parked in the wrong place. It should never have happened, says a source. Read more about it here .
