Renault claims it will 'radically rethink' the way the brand makes cabins. But this does not mean that the buttons will disappear, says design manager Gilles Vidal.
Renault is planning a 'new and radical' interior in the brand's cars. At least if you ask design manager Gilles Vidal. But that doesn't mean the buttons disappear.
On the contrary, says the design manager. A 'hierarchy' must be created in future Renault models, so that buttons and touch screens as well as panels can work side by side with each other.
– We will introduce ground-breaking solutions in virtually all areas, including in the cabin and with user interaction, he says.
Vidal highlights the futuristic cabin of Renault's Emblem as an example. The car, which otherwise runs on hydrogen, is currently only a concept. But it is expected that the French will get serious about the idea within three years.

Numerous studies have also shown that touch screens both constitute a danger in traffic and steal the drivers' attention. Attention that they should keep on the road.
