Dacia Duster and Renault 5 fight for the title of Car of the Year in Europe

Both Dacia Duster and Renault 5 are among the seven finalists for the title of European Car of the Year 2025.

Dacia Duster and Renault 5 are two of the finalists in the competition to become European Car of the Year 2025.

For the first time, Dacia has a model in the final, where the Duster represents the brand's investment in both innovation and economic accessibility.

The Renault 5 is also among the selected cars and this marks the fourth consecutive year that Renault has reached the final round of this prestigious competition.

Dacia Duster has undergone a number of updates and is now based on the CMF-B platform, which among other things makes it possible to offer a hybrid version. This technology can ensure up to 80% electric traffic in urban areas and thus significantly reduce consumption.

The model is also characterized by the use of recycled materials, such as Starkle plastic, which is used in the car's exterior parts. Since its launch in 2010, Dacia Duster has sold more than 2.5 million units and is popular in the B-SUV segment.

The new Duster is expected to be launched in Denmark in the first quarter of 2025.

The Renault 5 is a reinterpretation of the classic model from 1972, but now built on the advanced AmpR Small platform, which will also be used for future models such as the Renault 4 and Twingo.

This platform shares features with both the Megane and Scenic, including the multi-link rear axle and the advanced Cocoon noise reduction system. The engines and infotainment system are also taken from Renault's larger electric models, and the car is produced in northern France with the majority of components delivered within a radius of 300 kilometers.

Renault 5 is expected to be launched in Denmark in March 2025, while prices will be revealed on 1 January.

It is a jury of 60 motor journalists from 23 countries who have selected the Dacia Duster and Renault 5 from a total of 42 car models for the final.

The winner of the European Car of the Year 2025 title will be announced on 10 January at the Brussels Motor Show.
