The Peugeot e-3008 must be charged twice to cover 1,000 kilometers

Peugeot says the new e-3008 'only' needs to be charged twice to cover 1,000 kilometres. It corresponds to petrol and diesel cars, they say.

The Peugeot e-3008 has recently completed a 1,000 kilometer road trip between Paris and Nice.

The brand says that the car 'only' had to be charged twice along the way. And that they have thus set a new standard for the range of electric cars.

Peugeot presented the new e-3008 in September. It is equipped with a 96.9 kWh battery that gives a WLTP range of 700 kilometers.

This is what Peugeot writes in a press release .

But a Google Maps search shows that the distance between Paris and Nice, depending on the route, is between 938 and 1,019 kilometers.

The Stellantis group, which owns Peugeot, does not want to give details about the specific route. But it is stated that the trip was approximately 1,000 kilometers long.

Stellantis adds that "the trip was short with a speed up to motorway speed of 130 km/h in 20 degree heat."

Peugeot has not disclosed the average speed of the trip or how long the e-3008 spent charging along the way.

Stellantis claims that cars built on the STLA Medium platform, which the e-3008 is, have performance that is "comparable to internal combustion engine cars". That is, when the driver both takes a break to stretch his legs and refuel.

However, there are many cars with a combustion engine that can cover the entire trip from Paris to Nice without having to refuel along the way. For example, the latest Mercedes-Benz E 220 d easily manages 1,000 kilometers on a full tank of diesel.

While the e-3008's range is on par with other EVs, especially if you take the Chinese range estimates at face value, it's worth noting that the trip between Paris and Nice required two charging stops.
