Lucid Air is the world's fastest police car

Things move fast in the world of cars. Last week it was the Tesla Model S. Now the Lucid Air is the world's fastest police car.

Last week, Boosted reported that the police in Los Angeles have ordered a Tesla Model S. But now they have been surpassed by colleagues in the state's 'Highway Patrol'.

Right now, that department of the traffic police is testing a Lucid Air. Depending on the model, which is not disclosed, the Lucid Air has between 436 and 1,251 horsepower.

The car brand says so in a press release .

The acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h in 1.89 seconds makes the Lucid Air Sapphire the world's fastest police car.

That is, provided that it is exactly the model that the police in California have ordered for patrolling the state's highway network. And there are plenty of kilometers to cover. The USA's most populous state is covered with no less than 4,000 kilometers of motorway. In comparison, there are only 1,298 kilometers of this type of asphalt in the whole of Denmark.

If it's the Lucid Air Sapphire that the Highway Patrol officers are driving around in, however, they have to sacrifice a little on range. At least compared to the so-called Grand Touring model.'

That model is given up to a range of 755 kilometers, while the top model has to settle for 687 kilometers on a full charge. Provided that the sum is not at the bottom all the time. Lucid Air Sapphire also has a top speed of 330 kilometers per hour.

While the Americans are testing one electric car after another, their colleagues in Sweden clearly say no thanks.

– If you drive an electric car at 80-90 km/h, it can drive over 500 kilometers.

– But if you are on an emergency call with a fully loaded electric car. you don't get more than 150 kilometers of range, says Karl Holm, head of the service unit in the Danish Police Agency's economy department, to Politiavisen.

Police in California aren't the only ones using Lucid Air. In fact, you are not even the first. Nine months ago, the police in Saudi Arabia put the same model into use.
