Kevin Magnussen's colleague must give up all hope

The choirs are in place, but Audi is probably already on its way out of Formula 1. And now the boss recognizes that the difference to the other teams is too great.

He hasn't even started working for the team yet. But Nico Hulkenberg already has to deal with a disappointing message from his future employer.

Audi cannot compete with the other Formula 1 teams within the planned three years from the debut in 2026. This is what the new technical boss, Mattia Binotto, says.

Instead, Binotto emphasizes that Audi cannot achieve the original objective. In addition, Sauber is simply in too bad shape.

Sauber, which will become Audi in 2026, lacks everything from employees to important equipment to be able to call itself a top team. Still, there are many indications that the German car brand is already on its way out of the sport again. Read more about it here .

According to Mattia Binotto, Sauber is very far from living up to the standard that he knows from his days as head of Ferrari's Formula 1 team. Therefore, Sauber, which is based in Switzerland, also has to think more long-term than Audi had thought, when they bought one hundred percent of the team as recently as this year.

Audi is not the first car brand that has been on Sauber's cars in Formula 1. The team has cards as a factory team for BMW and most recently with a main sponsor agreement from Alfa Romeo.
