Audi raises the price of all diesel and petrol cars

Anyone who wants to buy a new Audi with a combustion engine will have to pay a lot more for it from December. This is what Audi writes to its dealers in Germany.

Audi has probably dropped the idea of only building electric cars in 2030. But the brand from Ingolstadt would rather not sell anything else.

That is why they now claim the price of all new cars with internal combustion engines. That means both petrol, diesel and hybrid cars.

This is according to an internal memo that the brand sent to its dealers in Germany. A note that Automobilwoche has seen.

The decision has already sparked the same anger that the brand's dealers expressed last year, when Audi also raised prices. At that time, it was decided to raise the price of all cars in the model program by 2.3 percent on average.

In April 2023, the Audi dealers were even in the situation that, due to a lack of parts and partly demand, they could not order more of the brand's models as new cars at all. This applied, among other things, to A6/S6, A6 allroad, A7/S7 as well as Audi SQ5 and SQ5 Sportback in the diesel and petrol versions.

The only exceptions to the price increases were the electric cars and the large SUVs Q7 and Q8. The announcement of the new price increases comes at the worst possible time for Audi.

The brand has just published a quarterly report, which shows that the brand's profits have collapsed over the past three months. Read more about it here.

But already back in May 2023, the Audi dealers complained significantly about the state of affairs. According to the media T-Online mainly because the customers are leaving. And to such an extent that dealers feel compelled to use massive discounts to keep car sales going.

However, the Audi dealers are not the only ones who have to see the profits disappear in discounts. According to a German survey, the average discount for the 30 best-selling new cars in the country rose to 16.3 percent in April 2023.
