Bankrupt car brand resurrects – builds only 30 cars

Karma, the small Southern California automaker born out of Fisker Automotive's bankruptcy, will build a 'new car'. But only 30 copies.

  • Karma Invictus is a performance-oriented version of the sedan model Karma Revero that came on the market in 2016. Two years after Henrik Fisker's Karma Automotive went bankrupt.
  • The car is built with a number of components – i.a. roof – made of carbon fiber which reduces weight.
  • Only 30 copies of the Invictus model are produced. Today, Karma Automotive is owned by the Chinese concern Wanxiang Group.

Karma, the small Californian automaker that was resurrected after the bankruptcy of Fisker Automotive, has presented a new model.

Invictus is the name of the new performance version of the sedan Karma Revero, which is essentially a further development of the original Fisker Karma from 2012, which later became the Karma GS-6 and now the Karma Revero.

The Invictus differs from the Revero as a number of parts are made from carbon fibre, including the bonnet, roof, tailgate and tailgate. In order to improve the car's aerodynamics, room has also been made for air intakes in the front fenders. This helps to reduce the air pressure from the wheel arches.

The car is equipped with Öhlins shock absorbers and Swift springs, taken from the world of motorsport. According to Karma, the steering has been improved and is now more precise and predictable through turns.

Under the hood, you'll find the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as in the Revero. That is, a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine that supplies power to two electric motors on the rear axle. The system produces 536 horsepower and 746 Nm in total.

However, Karma doesn't have high hopes when it comes to the new "12" year old car. In fact, production of the Invictus is limited to just 30 examples. Price and delivery time have not yet been announced.

While the Karma is chugging along, things look different for Henrik Fisker's new car brand, Fisker Inc. Right now, the company is going through bankruptcy proceedings in the US legal system.

Just a few weeks ago, Boosted could also say that the last Fisker Inc. employees were more than busy getting out of the manger on the last day of work. See the photos from the abandoned head office right here .
