The last E46 edition of BMW's 3 Series was built 18 years ago. Now the car is resurrected. And even with something the factory never used; V8 engine.
BMW built quite a handful of E46 3 Series with a V8 engine. But never for street use. Alpina got that task. Which in other words soon no longer exists. More on that here.
But back on track. For now, the old 3 Series is being resurrected. Or almost there. For the new car brand, Strickland Motor Co. uses the old 3 Series of the E46 generation as the basis for a new station wagon.
And not just any station wagon. In the world of electric cars, the new, 'old' BMW gets a Chevrolet LS-V8 engine with 500 horsepower.
The entire glory is connected to a six-speed manual gearbox, which sends all the horsepower directly to the rear wheels. The Strickland folks promise a 0 to 60 mph time (0-96 km/h, ed.) of 3.6 seconds.
Unfortunately, it all turns out to be a bit of a dream. At least at present. All Strickland can show off at this point are a few computer drawings of the new car.

But if the final result just sticks roughly to the concept forms it offers; five dores, round headlights and a silhouette that is very reminiscent of BMW's actual shapes from the 00s. Throw in a bit of Volvo now that we're at it.
But getting a new E46 Touring on the road will not be a cheap pleasure. According to The Drive, the price per car – if it comes to anything else – up to 150,000 dollars corresponding to 1 million Danish kroner plus the loose.
Now, we said enough that Strickland doesn't have much more than a few drawings. They actually have. Because at the SEMA Show, which these days is raging in Nevada's orc, they have brought along a model made of foam. The only thing left is to cross our fingers for a production.
