Closed completely in 2020 – now car brand will be revived

Bristol Cars started building cars way back in 1945 but had to give up in 2020. Four years later, however, new financiers are trying to revive the name.

The British car brand Bristol Cars, which built the first car back in 1945, closed in 2020. But now new investors want to revive the brand. Behind the rescue attempt is Jason Wharton, who according to his LinkedIn profile is chairman and managing director of Bristol Cars.

Wharton has announced an ambitious production plan focusing on both limited edition models and production cars. A new Bristol Fighter is expected in 2025, followed by a Bristol Speedster in 2026.

In the period 2027-2030, the plan is to launch the models Bristol Buccaneer and Bristol Pullman.

That's what AutoExpress writes.

On Wharton's LinkedIn profile there is a drawing that resembles a modernized version of the Bristol 411. A model produced between 1969 and 1976.

Bristol Cars has confirmed that future models will not be purely electric. Commenting, Wharton hinted that both petrol and diesel, hybrid technology and electric drive will be part of the strategy.

It is not yet known where Bristol Cars will get the powertrains from. In the past, the company has used engines from BMW and Chrysler.

The new website for Bristol Cars includes a statement about the revival of the brand:

"We are reviving Bristol Cars as a British electric car company for the 21st century, in time for the 80th anniversary of its founding," it says.

Car brands and car models that are resurrected are not unusual. In Russia, due to sanctions from the West, several former Soviet brands have had to be revived. Blue. Moskovich, which otherwise closed completely in 1991, when the union of communist states collapsed.

However, the cars are nothing more than Chinese models built under license. Then it is immediately more interesting that classic Ford models – i.a. Sierra Cosworth – resurrects. Read more about it here .
