Formula 1 team announces: Star is ill

The Spanish world champion Fernando Alonso is still affected by the illness he contracted after the race in Mexico. However, he won the race on Sunday in Brazil, says Aston Martin.

Fernando Alonso, who drives for Aston Martin in Formula 1, has been ill and had to cancel the media day ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix.

Now he is again affected by illness and will be absent in connection with the media days in Brazil. The team confirms this in a press release.

Alonso has been receiving treatment in Europe after the intestinal infection in Mexico, which has delayed his trip to Brazil.

– Fernando has received further treatment, and this has unfortunately delayed his trip to Brazil. But he is ready to sing when the lob weekend starts, writes the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team according to PlanetF1 .

Despite having to pull out of the race in Mexico with a brake problem, Alonso is set to race in Brazil in what will be his 401st Formula 1 Grand Prix.

In Mexico, Alonso experienced problems with overheated brakes that forced him to retire from the race.

– We got a good start and took advantage of the turmoil in front of us, but unfortunately we got some debris in the brake ducts, which caused the temperature to skyrocket," Alonso said after the race.

After several attempts to solve the problem, Aston Martin had to pull Alonso's car out of the race.

– It hurts every time when you don't see the checkered flag," added Alonso, who emphasized that it is disappointing to retire – regardless of whether you are fighting for points or not.

Alonso is hoping for better luck in Brazil and wants to end the season on a high note, even though it has been a podiumless season. He is ninth in the choir championship and would like to end the season with a positive result that can give momentum to the collaboration with Honda. Read more about it here .
