It is well enough under heavy camouflage, but Tesla still cannot hide that the brand is testing the next Model Y. Internally known as Juniper.
Tesla is on the way with an updated version of the Model Y, known under the code name 'Juniper'. Prototypes have been seen on the roads in China, suggesting that Tesla is busy preparing for the launch. Delivery is expected to start in early 2025.
Model Y, originally launched in 2020, has sold over 2 million units worldwide.
An update of the model is therefore expected. Previously, prototypes of the new Model Y have been seen in the United States and Spain. Now the turn has come to China, where pictures of camouflaged test cars have appeared on social media.
The images from China suggest that production of the updated Model Y will take place in China, Germany and the US. However, the prototypes that have been seen on the roads have been seen with 'significant' differences.
The American and European models have the number plate placed low on the bumper, while the Chinese prototype has the number plate mounted on the tailgate. There are rumors that there will be two different variants of the Model Y in China. But nothing is confirmed.

Production of the new Model Y is said to have started at Tesla's factory in Shanghai on October 22, with a daily production of 15 cars. It is unknown whether Tesla will use their Optimus robots in production.
Although the Model Y is still a popular electric car, it is about five years old. In the automotive world, this is a long time, and an update is necessary to keep up with the competition.
The new Model Y is expected to get a front end with new headlights and bumpers that improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise. Additionally, one of the most obvious changes is expected to be a different taillight design.
The Model 3, which shares a platform with the Model Y, has an acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 262 km/h. Whether the facelifted Model Y can do the same, only the Tesla top still knows.
