The Jaguar E-Type is resurrected 50 years after production stopped

For an ultra brief note, Jaguar is now producing the classic E-Type again. Unfortunately only in two copies 50 years after production stopped.

50 years after production of the Jaguar E-Type ended in 1974, Jaguar Classic has produced two cars from scratch.

Both cars were built for one and the same customer in Southeast Asia and are inspired by the last 50 Commemorative Editions built in 1974. Both cars are Series I convertibles in Signet Green and Opal Black.

It took over 2,000 hours to complete the two cars, which the car brand's classic department, Jaguar Classic, calls unique offers of the brand's "Works Bespoke creations".

A special feature of the cars is Jaguar's collaboration with Deakin & Francis, England's oldest jewelery company. The result is details in mother-of-pearl, sol and 18 carat gold that contribute to the cars' unique character.

In addition to the jewelry, there are other special details in the cabin. The seats are upholstered in hand-woven and stitched leather from Bridge of Weir. The center console is made of anodized aluminum and has an engraving of a Series I E-Type drawing from Jaguar's archives. In addition, Jaguar has added a modern radio with Bluetooth and a windscreen with heating elements.

Both models are equipped with a 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine that has been upgraded with electronic fuel injection.

The original four-speed manual gearbox has been replaced by a five-speed manual gearbox.

Jaguar has not announced the price of the two new Jaguar Classic E-Type Commemorative models. However, it is more than likely that they are more expensive than the factory restored models from previous years.

Jaguar is not the only one who can see big money in building new cars out of old models. Nissan does the same at the brand's factory in Japan. And they get help from Nismo. Read more about it here.

However, Boosted has recently also told about how the Ford Sierra Cosworth and Saab 900 Turbo have been resurrected.
