The number of day tickets that can be used for private traffic in yellow-plate cars has never been higher. This is shown by new figures from the Danish Motor Agency, which administers the scheme.

In fact, there is a 30 percent increase in the number of daily tickets purchased in 2023 compared to the previous year. The day permits allow legal private traffic in a car with yellow plates for up to one day, and more citizens and businesses are now making use of the opportunity.
– We are really happy that so many choose to order day tickets.
– We see that a lot of people use our app, which makes it easier and more flexible for citizens and companies to use the yellow plate car for private purposes, and this is probably also an important reason why we see this large increase, says Pernille Fruergård Simonsen , deputy director of the Motor Authority, in a press release .
A total of 78 percent of the daily permits are purchased through the Dagsbevis app, which was updated to a new version in 2021. The remaining daily permits are purchased via the Motor Register.

The number of day permits issued has generally been increasing in recent years. In 2023, day tickets for 156,000 days were ordered by both citizens and companies.
The Danish Motor Authority intends to inform both citizens and businesses about the importance of having daily licences, and they do this through various campaigns and information on the Danish Motor Authority's website.
– Because it can be expensive if you don't follow the rules. Therefore, there is also more guidance on the way for the companies that own a yellow plate car," adds Pernille Fruergård Simonsen.
In order to support this initiative, the Motor Agency has sent letters to 67,000 owners of yellow-plate cars that weigh less than 4 tonnes.
The purpose of these letters is to provide guidance on how companies can manage their employees' use of yellow plate cars as well as information on how to correctly purchase day tickets.
The increasing demand for daily permits underlines the need for clearer guidelines and guidance for motorists and companies so that they can comply with current regulations and avoid potential financial consequences.
