Crazy Russians want to put V16 chainsaw engine in old Lada

Garage 54 once again explores the unusual – this time by creating an engine from 16 chainsaws.

In a remarkable Youtube video, Garage 54 has decided to construct a V16 engine using a whopping 16 chainsaws.

Behind the channel is a group of Russians who are known for their unconventional and often bizarre car projects. They use ordinary objects to create unique engines, and this time they have chosen chainsaws as their 'main ingredient'.

The 16 chainsaws, specifically 16 Hüter BS 62, are disassembled, leaving only the engines, each with a displacement of 58 cubic meters and a performance of 4.5 horsepower. N

If you add the numbers together, it gives a total engine size of 928 cubic meters. But theory is often easier than practice, and it is uncertain whether this construction will work in reality.

The motors are mounted in a steel frame that is welded together with eight motors on each side. Each engine gets pulleys installed on their crankshafts to connect them and transfer power to a central drive shaft.

A flywheel from an older Lada is connected, and a manual gearbox is fitted. Although the design looks appealing, it is not guaranteed that the engine will perform as planned.

The host of the program notes in this context:

– I have difficulty getting this into a small Lada.

He then glances at his comrades, who also seem to have doubts. The mates adjust the engine and ensure that everything is set correctly so that the engine can be started.

When it comes time to start the engine, there is a bit of resistance, but eventually it roars into action, although it sounds like a whooping dinosaur.

However, the most important thing is that it works, despite a little liquid leaking. In the upcoming episode of on the Youtube channel, they plan to install the engine in a Lada from the 1990s, which will probably turn quite a few heads.
