Kia's newest electric car is actually 28 years old

Kia can these days celebrate 80 years as a car brand. It is to be celebrated with a 28-year-old celebrity who has converted to electric operation.

Kia is currently celebrating 80 years as a car brand. And that should be celebrated. So to mark the day, the English importer has had a 28-year-old electric car made.

Or that is to say – the car is virtually brand new. It is just based on a body from 1996. The Kia Pride was a very small car that could also be bought in Denmark between 1986 and 1995.

Compared to the original, the electric car weighs 20 kilos more due to the heavier battery pack. On the other hand, the torque has doubled and the total number of horsepower has increased by 77 percent.

It sounds impressive. But here you have to remember that the starting point only had 61 horsepower to do well with. Today, the new 109 horsepower must move a car with two battery packs of a total of 20 kWh. This should provide a better weight distribution.

On the other hand, there is nothing to cheer about when it comes to charging. It's deadly slow because the plug is only on one phase. A full charge of the battery takes six hours. There will also be no series production of the new, 28-year-old Kia Pride.

Instead, the car is built with the aim of being an eye-catcher at various car shows. First and foremost in England.

By the way, the Pearl White paint is not original, but similar to the one you can get Kia's more modern electric cars in. As a fun detail, the gear lever has been preserved. It is now used to switch choir programs with.
