Super rare Skyline GT-R stolen from Nissan's collection

It really shouldn't be possible. But a super rare Nissan Skyline GT-R has nevertheless disappeared from Nissan's factory collection.

Nissan has lost one of the first 100 examples of the R32 Skyline GT-R which was delivered to the Australian market in 1991.

The car was stored in the Nissan importer's fleet of historic cars when it went missing on Wednesday, October 9. The car has been in Nissan's collection based at its Melbourne headquarters since 2015.

Therefore, the importer is now looking for the car with lights and lanterns. So much so, in fact, that the case is now being investigated by the local police.

– Unfortunately, our original R32 GT-R has been stolen and a police investigation is now underway, says a spokesman from Nissan in Australia.

The news of the theft has spread like wildfire on social media, and especially on Reddit there is lively speculation as to where the car may have gone. According to an r/Melbourne thread, the thieves also tried to get away with an R35 GT-R. However, they had no luck with that.

That messy Nissan isn't just one of the first in Australia. The car is also one of just 43,000 R32 GT-Rs that Nissan built in total between 1989 and 1994. It was also precisely in Australian motorsport that the car got its now iconic nickname Godzilla.

Due to a so-called gentlemen's agreement between the Japanese automakers, the Skyline R32 GT-R officially only has 280 horsepower from a 2.6-liter straight six. But there is broad agreement that Nissan has underestimated the car's real capabilities. And even quite significantly.
