Here are the first pictures of the new Renault 4

Renault 4, the best-selling Renault of all time, is back. Now as big brother to the smaller Renault 5.

At the Paris Motor Show, the new Renault 4 was presented, even before the Danish launch of the Renault 5.

The upcoming Renault 4 shares a platform with the Renault 5 and has the same engines and battery packs, but the car is larger in several respects.

Compared to the Renault 5, which measures 3.92 meters in length and 1.77 meters in width, the Renault 4 has a length of 4.14 meters and a width of 1.79 meters.

The importer writes this in a press release .

The wheelbase has also increased, from 2.54 meters in the Renault 5 to 2.62 meters in the Renault 4. This extra space means that rear seat passengers in the Renault 4 get the same spaciousness as in a Renault Captur.

The height of the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is 1.57 metres, which corresponds to the height of the current Renault Captur. At the same time, the ground clearance is 18.1 cm, which is 1.2 cm more than the Captur.

The luggage compartment has a capacity of 420 litres, and the Renault 4 thus differs in several areas from the Renault 5 and targets a different target group.

Although the Renault 4 has a high ground clearance, the luggage compartment is easy to access thanks to a low loading edge.

The rear and front passenger seats can be folded flat, enabling the transport of long objects – something that is a new feature in Renault's electric cars.

The Renault 4 will be offered with two battery sizes, 40 kWh and 52 kWh respectively. Both versions have an AC charging capacity of 11 kW and can be charged with up to 100 kW DC.

The smallest battery version provides a range of 300 kilometers, while the larger one can cover up to 400 kilometers on a charge. Engine power also varies, with the small battery model having 120hp and the larger version having 150hp.

The 52 kWh battery is of the lithium-ion type and uses NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) technology, which provides a high energy density. The battery weighs approximately 300 kilos, which is 20 kilos less than a similar battery in the Renault Zoe.

The Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is equipped with an 11 kW AC bi-directional charger, which supports both V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2G (vehicle-to-grid) technology. However, V2G will not be available from the start in Denmark. In the version with 150 hp, the car can also be charged with a 100 kW DC charger that enables fast charging. The charging times are:

  • 11 kW AC: From 10 to 100% in 4 hours and 30 minutes
  • 100 kW DC: From 15 to 80% in 30 minutes

The engine in the Renault 4 is the same as in models such as the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric and Scenic E-Tech Electric.

The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 8.5 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 150 km/h. The suspension, which provides comfort equivalent to cars in larger classes, is taken from the Renault Captur at the front and from the Renault Megane E-Tech Electric at the rear.

Safety and comfort functions are an integral part of the Renault 4, including Active Driver Assist, which supports level 2 assisted crosswalks.

In addition, there are 26 different auxiliary systems, including "My Safety Switch", which makes it possible to select the five most used systems at the push of a button.

Renault 4 is also equipped with Google's connected services through the OpenR Link multimedia system.

In terms of design, the new Renault 4 draws clear lines to the original model. This applies to both the bumper, grille and interior details.

The new Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is also available in seven different colours: Glacier White, Urban Grey, Starry Black, Carmine Red, Terracotta Brown, Hauts-de-France Green and Cloud Blue.

One of the special features of the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric is the canvas roof, which measures 80 cm in width and 92 cm in length. The light roof can be opened in several positions, which adds a unique detail to the car.

Production of the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric takes place in France at the Maubeuge plant, which is part of Renault's ElectriCity complex.

The engine is manufactured in Cléon and the batteries are produced in Douai in collaboration with AESC. The majority of the sub-suppliers are located within a radius of 300 kilometers from ElectriCity.

The Maubeuge factory has a long history, including as the production site for the Renault Kangoo, which has been on the market for over 25 years and has sold more than four million units.

Including over 100,000 electric versions. Well-known models such as Renault 12, Renault Fuego, Renault 17, Renault 21 Nevada and Renault 19 have also been produced at the factory. The new Renault 4 is expected to be launched in Denmark after the summer of 2025.
