Car dealer banned from selling his cat

A former car dealer has been banned from selling goods on one of Sweden's largest trade portals, even though he does so as a private person. He must not even dispose of cats.

Peter from Gothenburg has been kicked out of one of Sweden's largest trading portals, Blocket. The former car dealer doesn't even have to find a new home for his cat.

Blocket blocks all his ads on the trading portal, even if he tries to create them as a private person.

He tells Carup that.

– I have run a company. But then my partner passed away and the cat didn't get any attention, so I put an ad on it. But they removed the ad; I wasn't even allowed to advertise the cat, says Peter.

A business account costs Peter around SEK 3,000 per month. And so there is no way around it. Even if, according to Carup, Peter and many other users have been affected by much stricter rules on Blocket.

Handelsportalen refers to tax regulations in Sweden, which oblige such companies to disclose business activities among their users.

If a person who was previously linked to the page with a profession suddenly switches to the private part of the Block, the trading portal will require documentation that it is not a hidden way of doing business.

– If we receive such documentation, it is no problem to advertise as a private person, even if you have a business, says a spokesperson.

However, the block does not only tighten the screws on traders. The car brands also treat the trade portal differently. Some of them the company wants nothing to do with. It should have hit Tesla. Read more about how here .
