Tesla has sold more Model Y than Volkswagen has sold the ID.7 in September. But overall, VW is far ahead of the Americans in Europe's largest car market.
According to the German authorities, Volkswagen has the upper hand when it comes to electric cars. At least when you look at sales figures and the relationship with Tesla.
However, this is not due to Volkswagen alone, but to the VW Group as a whole. Because Volkswagen as a brand is currently in a huge crisis, the other brands are picking up significantly.
This is written by the Bild newspaper.
Seat/Cupra and Skoda especially pull the load. In fact, six out of 10 of the best-selling electric cars in Germany right now are owned by the Volkswagen Group.
With 14,500 new registrations, the German group sold around twice as many electric cars as in August and more than three times as many as industry leader Tesla.

It is going particularly well for the Skoda Enyaq, which, although it is almost 3,000 euros, corresponding to 22,300 Danish kroner, less than the Model Y, sold close to 400 more copies during the month of September.
Bild points out that the Germans ignore the cheapest electric cars. In fact, there are only three 'cheaper' electric cars: Hyundai Kona E, Mini Electric and Volkswagen ID.3 on the sales lists.
The next step for electric cars is difficult to predict. Fortunately, the German government has promised to reintroduce some of the support that disappeared immediately in December 2023. But it will not benefit everyone, and exactly what a new support will look like is not yet known.
