Swedish police cars are so small that the rear windows explode

The police in Sweden are now complaining that their patrol cars are so small that there is not enough space in the cars. It's so bad that the windows explode.

The police cars are too small. At least if the police themselves are to be believed.

This is written by the trade magazine Polistidningen .

The police officers complain in particular that the amount of equipment they have to carry in the cars cannot be there at all. Many officers directly complain that the rear windows of the cars explode when the tailgate is closed.

It is particularly bad if a student from the police academy also has to go out to sing. Because then there is an extra man who has to have room for the equipment, which already has difficulty being in the cars.

– The cars are not intended for three police officers. When we ordered them, it was meant for two police officers and one remand. We tested the Volvo V90 and XC60 and everything worked.

– But I can imagine that when the police are in a hurry to respond to an alarm, they throw everything in a hurry.

– When they then close the tailgate, the window breaks. But if you just have to go out on a normal patrol without extra stress, I don't think it will happen, says police technology in the State's Operative Department Ulf Granath.

Granath points out that the problem can be different from police district to police district in Sweden. In some places, the police also drive around with defibrillators and other first aid equipment, which take up quite a lot of space in the cars.

The most police cars in Sweden are the Volvo XC60 and V90. There are 1,640 cars here, while there are only 100 so-called 'large emergency vehicles'. It is in Sweden the Volkswagen Touareg.
