Every other driver hates people who don't keep to the right

Every other driver gets annoyed by drivers who are too bad to keep to the right. The same applies to road safety.

Boosted has asked Nissan in Denmark whether the brand's special warning for drivers who do not keep to the right will also come to Denmark. There is a strong need for it.

In a new survey , which the Swedish Road Administration is behind, every other motorist answers that they are annoyed by empty lanes on the right on the motorways.

However, it's not just the drivers' sense of humor, it goes beyond when their fellow road users can't figure out how to keep to the right. It also costs the road safety account.

This is explained by Marianne Foldberg Steffensen, head of department in the Road Directorate.

When you don't keep to the right, it can cause frustration among other road users and can contribute to risky behavior such as overtaking on the right, heavy braking and traffic close to anchoring.

– So even though it can be experienced as the easiest to lie in the midfield, you have to move to the right when the opportunity presents itself.

In order to focus on the problem, the Norwegian Road Directorate is launching the "Stick to the right" campaign on 24 September. The campaign aims to make road users aware that keeping to the right increases both road safety and accessibility.

– Motorists who do not keep to the right block several lanes in principle, as overtaking on the right is illegal.

– Therefore, there will be less space on the roads to handle the traffic and thus more congestion. When drivers remember to keep to the right, there is actually more space on the roads, says Marianne Foldberg Steffensen.

According to the Road Directorate's investigation, these five things about other road users are the most annoying:

  1. They don't stick to the right – 54%
  2. They do not keep their distance to the car in front – 49%
  3. They don't use their turn signals – 29%
  4. They are focused on something other than their car – 28%
  5. They sing selfishly – 26%
