Nissan's new cruise control stops people who don't keep to the right

With the "2.1" update for the Propilot assistant, Nissan will remind drivers that it is bad style not to keep to the right on the motorway.

Nissan is now making an honorable attempt to remove an extremely bad habit from traffic. Namely the one among people who don't keep to the right on the motorway.

There are those who pull out to the left after an overtake and 'forget' to pull in afterwards. And then there are those who permanently occupy the left lane.

Nissan's update of the Propilot system, which the Japanese call the collection of pre-assistance systems, will satisfy both types of drivers. Or at least give them a guilty conscience.

The system is very simple – after an overhaul, Nissan models with Propilot 2.1 will remind the driver to remember to pull over. The car doesn't do much more.

Propilot 2.1 therefore also cannot get the car to pull the steering wheel itself in order to force the driver into the side with 'violence and force'. But there are probably many out there on the roads sending Nissan a kind thought now.

The only problem is that the notification only works when Propilot is turned on. And that the system will only really be rolled out on the roads in the course of 2025. According to Motor1.com, it will happen first with the Rogue model, which in our latitudes is called Qashqai.

Boosted has asked Nissan Denmark if Propilot 2.1 will be rolled out to Danish drivers. We will update the article with an answer.

However, not all assistant systems make the same sense. Nevertheless, the EU has imported a good number of them per 7 July 2024. Now the politicians in Brussels, for example, want to decide more about how your car's rear lights behave. Read more about it here .
