Kevin Magnussen complains: "It's ridiculous"

Kevin Magnussen does not like the direction Formula 1 is moving in. The Dane thinks the penalty point system in particular is ridiculous.

Kevin Magnussen is the first Formula 1 driver ever to be banned from a Formula 1 lob under the current rules. All because of too many penalty points.

It happened last weekend, when the Dane in connection with Azerbaijan's grand prix was relieved by the just 18-year-old Briton Oliver Bearman.

But if you ask the 32-year-old Dane, what Formula 1 is doing right now is anything but the right way to go. He tells this in an interview with Motorsport Week .

– At the moment it feels like they are punishing ridiculous things.

– It feels wrong when the sport you love so much changes in a way you don't appreciate.

– I like to drive a tough race, and in my opinion it is the battles that are the beauty of motorsport, says the Dane, who still drives a few laps for Haas.

Nor does K-Mag understand much about the penalty he received for an attempted overtake. Not even if it cost him the decisive 10 seconds that triggered a ban from one lob on the Formula 1 calendar.

– I don't know what will happen with these penalties. So, what's the point? We had minimal contact going into turn four, but there was no damage to the cars, it had no consequences, nobody lost anything from it, Kevin Magnussen told the official Formula 1 site.

And although Kevin Magnussen's chances of joining Formula 1 after this season look smaller and smaller, there are still things he hopes for. Also in sports.

– As a fan of Formula 1, I would like to see the sport become more open again and allow the fantastic kind of racing that you can see on the tracks, he says.
