Although the electric cars are well helped on the roads by low taxes, not all expenses can be easily skipped by the owner, says the workshop chain.
From a political point of view, one would like to see one million electrified cars on Danish roads by 2030. For the same reason, pure electric cars under DKK 436,000 are kept completely free of registration tax.
While the recurring charge is absolutely minimal. But it is not everywhere that the Danish electric car owners get off easily.
This is what the Michelin-owned chain Euromaster writes in a press release.
Specifically, Euromaster has looked at the expense that people in electric cars have for winter tires. Also when compared to the fossil-fueled alternative.

The comparison is based on the electric car owners having two sets of tires. One for every six months. Summer and winter wheels, so to speak. Figures from the industry association Dækbranchen show that a good 75 percent of Danish drivers already have.
Even so, electric car owners in particular are surprised by the cost of tyres. Especially first-time owners of electric cars may find it difficult to swallow the expense.
According to Thomas Harbo, who is the director, tires for electric cars are between 75 and 100 percent more expensive when you switch from a diesel or petrol car.
– Our calculations show a large price difference in equipping a Tesla Model Y and a VW Passat with new winter tires. It is easily more than DKK 9,000 depending on the choice of tires and rims.
– This is because electric cars often come with large wheel dimensions from the factory, and this increases the price of having both summer and winter wheels, says Thomas Harbo.
Euromaster has also looked at the costs of tires fitted to a Tesla Model 3 and a Peugeot 2008. Here, too, the difference is significant. It sounds like a good 9,000 kroner.
The director believes that electric cars also often wear out the tires more heavily, because the cars weigh more than their fossil-fuel counterparts.
– Many owners of electric cars realize that their costs for tires are rising to the level that is actually the case.
– As our calculations illustrate, there is a significant additional cost in both acquisition and operation.
– This means, among other things, that we have many customers who are starting to take an interest in all-season tires or budget tires that do not necessarily have the same road grip and durability, but here-and-now can reduce costs.
However, more expensive tires for electric cars do not change the fact that in 2024 it will be cheaper to drive a car on Danish roads. In fact, there are several thousand kroner to save just compared to last year, FDM believes. Read more about it here .
