Although BMW denies that the brand still manipulates the emissions of diesel cars, the German authorities now want it investigated.
The German authorities are now raising doubts about whether BMW is one of the car manufacturers that still cheats with the emission of harmful substances from diesel cars.
The German traffic authorities KBA will in any case have investigated whether BM has equipment in X3 models with a two-litre diesel engine that makes the car's emissions look better than it really is.

It remains unclear how many cars may be part of BMW's possible cheating. But the case is reminiscent of the one that felled Volkswagen ten years ago.

According to Bild, internal documents suggest that the X3 emits fewer NOx particles when the air conditioning is switched off. Something that is usually the case when cars are anyway tested in connection with their type approval.
People in the industry who are familiar with the mentioned test interpret it to Bild as a loophole that BMW has found. Although it is illegal.
At BMW, however, they deny everything. Instead, the brand claims it's a 'manufacturing defect'. However, the brand from Müchen is not the only one that continues to be plagued by dieselgate.
