Oh no: Koenigsegg Jesko hit by flames and errors – again

Once again, a Koenigsegg Jesko has gone up in arms. For the factory in Ängelholm, Sweden, the error is still unknown.

Another Koenigsegg Jesko has gone up in flames. This time, a so far unknown fault caused it to smoke violently directly from the engine compartment.

It happened in connection with the Supercar Owners Circle 2024 in the Italian city of Puglia recently, where several cars raced at high speeds on an airfield.

The incident is reminiscent of the one that caused another Koenigsegg Jesko to catch fire on a highway in Greece last summer. Back then, the fire was caused by a fault with the hydraulics. The factory has also already said that the owner will get a new car at Koenigsegg's expense.

The car brand has, on the other hand, stated about the new accident that the Jesko Absolut, which began to smoke heavily, never caught fire. The theory is that it is an unidentified engine failure that caused flames and soot to come from the exhaust pipe.

A total of 125 copies of the Koenigsegg Jesko will be built, which on ethanol – also known as E85 – produces a whopping 1,625 horsepower from a 5.1-liter V8 engine with twin turbos.

The few, but very lucky, buyers can choose between two versions: Jesko Attack, which is optimized for track traffic, and Jesko Absolut, which is made for the highest possible top speed.

The car is also named after Jesko von Koenigsegg, father of the brand's founder Christian von Koenigsegg. However, the founder has also paid tribute to himself with a very special car. A car in which there was so much interest that the founder himself had to ask the customers for permission to build more.
