Mercedes owner escaped parking stall because he didn't stop Tesla

The owner of this Mercedes escaped a parking stall because his car is a Mercedes and not a Tesla illegally parked in central Oslo.

In February 2023, a Mercedes owner received a parking fee of NOK 660 (DKK 418, ed.) for parking in central Oslo.

But it is only now that the Norwegian Parking Complaints Board has come to the conclusion that the parking attendant was completely wrong about it.

– Strict requirements must also be placed on the parking companies, writes the Parking Complaints Board according to Norwegian Motor in its decision.

The Mercedes owner was initially charged because he had mistakenly paid for parking in a different zone than the one he had parked in. Sad, but such are the rules.

Would you believe it. A majority of the members of the Parking Complaint Board chose to side with the Mercedes owner anyway, because the parking attendant had noted a Tesla on the toll.

It did not help the parking company that the employed parking attendant had noted both the car model and the registration number correctly. A Tesla is not the same as a Mercedes.

– Strict requirements are placed on motorists when parking. Strict requirements must therefore also be placed on the parking companies.

– Here, both parties have registered errors, and then it would be unreasonable to maintain the control sanction, writes the board in its decision.

Here at home, parking companies also have to deal with being put in place from time to time. Last year in May, however, Q-Park would only call it a mistake that they had put people to write out charges in an area where the company is not allowed to be at all .

According to several drivers that Ekstra Bladet spoke to, Q-Park had made several serious mistakes. The company's own review also shows that several mistakes were made.

– Therefore, we have initiated a revision of the instructions to the guards on the demarcation of the area, as well as initiated a review of other charges imposed on the same address to ensure that they have all been issued correctly, it was in a written response.
