Another car brand has officially signed up for Le Mans

Ferrari has another contender for overall victory in the world's most famous 24-hour race at the Le Mans circuit, Circuit de la Sarthe, in France.

Boosted could already tell in August that Hyundai has plans to participate in Le Mans. And now the South Korean brand has taken the threat seriously.

However, it will be under the Genesis brand that Hyundai will line up in the so-called Hypercar class. But then it will also be to compete against competitors such as Ferrari, BMW, Peugeot, Lamborghini and Cadillac for the overall victory.

Hyundai is lining up in the LMDh class, which means that the brand does not have to develop things like the chassis and gearbox itself. This type must instead be purchased from pre-approved suppliers – i.a. Dallara or Oreca.

Unfortunately, Hyundai does not yet want to say much about the brand's Le Mans participation. But according to Motorsport.com, it could happen as early as 2026. The media also believes it knows that there is already an agreement in place with the chassis manufacturer Oreca.

However, Hyundai will develop the internal combustion engine to be used in the car. So people from Hyundai Motorsport in Germany must be put to the task.

The concept car that Hyundai/Genesis showed already in June has a V6 engine, which takes 10,000 revolutions per minute. In addition, the help from a compressor must be added. Hyundai says the concept car has a whopping 1,570 horsepower.

However, it is reported that Hyundai does not want to carry the entire task of a full Le Mans program all by itself, as, for example, Ferrari does.

In contrast, the South Koreans will offer factory support to already existing motorsport teams. There are many options here – Racing, IDEC Sport, TDS Racing, DAMS, and Chip Ganassi Racing, which Cadillac has just slipped away from, are just some of the options.
