78-year-old driver convicted of stealing electricity in a Polestar 2

A 78-year-old has learned the hard way that you shouldn't steal. Not even if you own an electric car.

It can be tempting, but you must not steal. Not even when it comes to the current needed in electric cars.

A 78-year-old man from Australia probably learned that when he was sentenced last year for connecting his Polestar 2 to a municipal electricity box in a forest.

In this way, he got the municipality to pay for the electricity used by the electric car. When the fraud was discovered, the man's Polestar had 'eaten' 500 Australian dollars worth of electricity. This corresponds to just over 2,300 Danish kroner.

– If you want to charge your electric car, don't steal the electricity to do it.

– The police will press charges every time, the law enforcement in the South Australian city of Mount Barker writes about the case on the social media "X". The former Twitter.

Stealing electricity is actually not as uncommon as one might think. Here at home, a 55-year-old man was indicted last year for stealing electricity worth almost a quarter of a million kroner.

And this year, a pizza man from Bogense on Nordfyn has this year been convicted of stealing electricity worth several thousand kroner.
