765,000 Ford owners are not allowed to drive their cars just to be safe

Ford has told 765,000 drivers to leave their cars parked. It's all due to possibly the biggest scandal in the automotive industry to date.

765,000 Ford owners have been told that they are no longer allowed to drive their cars. However, this is all for their own safety.

Ford has discovered that the nearly 1 million cars may still be equipped with defective airbags that stem from the Takata scandal.

Japan's Takata went bankrupt because the company produced millions of airbags that turned out to be dangerous. The company's airbags can explode.

The fault lies in the fact that the trigger for the airbag with the internal factory code PSDI-5 can crumble away over time. If that happens, the airbag will explode with unwanted brutality in the event of an accident.

At Ford, Mustang models built between 2005 and 2014 as well as the GT supercar (year of construction 2005 to 2006) may be affected by the error. So can Ranger and Fusion models.

With other car brands, it is already quickly leading to death. A total of 33 drivers have lost their lives due to the dangerous airbags. Most recently, a Honda Accord owner from Kentucky, USA, died when the airbag caused it to fly with metal splinters in the cabin.

However, it is part of the story that Honda actually tried to get in touch with the owner for several years to make him aware of the problem. However, it never happened in time.

Takata went bankrupt due to the life-threatening airbags in 2018. But here, 6 years later, it is still floating with the problematic airbags. It also causes problems at BMW.

The German brand has indeed discovered that a number of owners have bought and fitted used steering wheels from cars which, for various reasons, have not had the airbag replaced, in their cars. This means that a month ago BMW recalled more than 400,000 cars. Read more about it here .
