7 out of 10 Danes hate certain drivers

At least if they stay out there. Even more dislike drivers who don't keep their distance even less.

There are few things that annoy the Danes more than drivers hijacking the outside lane. The only thing that might be worse is drivers who don't keep their distance.

This is shown by a survey that Kantar Public has carried out for Gjensidige.

In fact, as many as 68 percent believe that it is worst when people do not keep their distance on the roads. While 'only' half find it most provocative when people lie in the outer lane and stay there.

The many bad habits are not only harmful to the traffic flow. They can also be directly dangerous for both those besides them, and not least for their fellow road users. Claims director at Gjensidige, Lene Rasmussen, thinks so.

– Several of these habits give drivers very poor conditions for reacting if an accident were to occur.

– This applies both if you are inattentive or if you do not keep a sufficient distance, because in both situations you will not be able to dodge or adapt your crosswalk to the conditions.

– And the recent period of violent and changeable weather has also reminded us to a great extent of how important it is, says the director.

There are also indications that many Danish drivers forget very basic traffic rules. In fact, 4 out of 10 indicate that overtaking inside and failure to comply with the rules for merging are also some of the habits that annoy the most in traffic.

The many violations not only increase the risk of accidents. They also lead to more unpredictable traffic and thus give more freedom for accidents.

– After all, there is a reason why rules have been made for how, for example, you must overtake in an intersection, or that you must not overtake inside.

– And that is why it is also important that you can trust that your co-drivers comply with the common rules. Because that way you can better anticipate traffic and help ensure safer traffic, says Lene Rasmussen.
