54 percent of electric car owners deny that they have a problem

Range anxiety is not something that electric car owners are bothered by. At least not if you ask them yourself, new research shows.

In a new survey, 54 percent of electric car owners deny that they have a problem. At least when it comes to the range.

Specifically, the majority of electric car owners say that they are not worried about whether their cars can take them from A to B.

This is shown by a survey carried out by the charging box company Zaptec.

The two main parts of the survey respectively focus on 1,082 people who drive either petrol or diesel cars and 1,032 people who drive hybrid or electric cars. Both groups are between 18 and 79 years old.

In the survey, the proportion of electric car owners who answered that they have range anxiety is 12 percent. However, the petrol and diesel owners turn it all upside down.

45 percent of those in diesel and petrol cars answer that they stay away from the electric car because they are afraid that it will run out of power. Or that, due to the range, they cannot reach without charging first.

It is interesting that those who already own an electric car place more importance on the car's range than the number of charging stations. As many as 56 percent of electric car owners believe that range is more important than the number of charging stations.

Despite the fact that some electric car owners are worried about the range of their car, there are significantly more who do not feel range anxiety to any great extent. Relatively many even cover long distances without problems, says John Wasstring, managing director of Zaptec, in a press release.

Zaptec's research also shows that electric car owners often make longer journeys than people in petrol and diesel cars. At least that's what they say.

31 percent of electric car owners said that on average they make a trip of at least 200 kilometers 11 times a year. For petrol and diesel car owners, the figure is 19 percent.
