38 percent of these Danes fear having their car confiscated

Three years of the law against reckless driving has left its mark on the country's car dealers, where 38 percent still fear that the state will take cars from them.

38 percent of Danish car dealers still fear that they may lose a car because a crazy driver gets behind the wheel for a test drive.

This is even though the law is three years old, and only two percent in the same survey answered that they had tried to have a car confiscated.

That's what Autobranchen Danmark writes.

The survey has been carried out by the organization among its members. And their response worries the director of Autobranchen Denmark, Gitte Seeberg.

– There is every reason to crack down on crazy driving, but you have to hit those who take risks, and not dealers or workshops that are just running their business, she says.

The director is pleased that few of her members have been affected by the law. But she now calls the consequence 'unacceptable and unsustainable'.

At the same time, the survey indicates that 10 percent of the Danish car dealers have fundamentally changed their way of doing business.

– It is clear to everyone that it is extremely unfair that innocent people are punished financially for the crime of others. That is why the politicians should deliver the official guidance quickly, says Gitte Seeberg.

However, there is no prospect of any relaxation of the rules. On the contrary, the government already said last year that it is looking at the possibility of further tightening the grip on reckless drivers. Read more about it here .

Meanwhile, police circles around the country are still impounding cars in droves. When the cars are eventually confiscated, it means that the state becomes the owner of a little of everything on four wheels.

Among other things, a very special Audi, which the City Court in Næstved recently took from a 27-year-old man who had borrowed it from his older brother. Read more about the matter here .
