29-year-old charged with reckless driving 38 times

A 29-year-old man, who does not already have a choir card, was stopped on his motorcycle back in May. Now he is charged with 38 counts of insanity.

A 29-year-old man from East Jutland has this week been charged with extensive violations of the traffic law, including as many as 38 cases of reckless driving.

The serious traffic jam was revealed when the man was stopped on the Herning motorway on 9 May 2024, where his behavior in traffic quickly caught the attention of the police.

The East Jutland Police write this in a press release .

It was officers from East Jutland Police's Traffic Section who stopped the man while he was driving a motorcycle without number plates.

The incident took place at Brabrand, and when stopped, it turned out that the man had also been disqualified. He was immediately identified and charged with driving a motorcycle despite the disqualification.

The motorcycle was subsequently impounded as it was assessed to be in an illegal condition. However, this seizure would prove to be just the start of an extensive investigation.

Camera reveals carousel of madness
Upon closer examination of the man's motorcycle and accessories, the police made a decisive discovery. A camera was mounted on his crash helmet that had recorded his crash over several days.

When police seized the camera, they gained access to hours of footage that revealed repeated instances of dangerous driving. These recordings included several situations where the man had shorted the rear wheel of the motorcycle at high speed and in several cases exceeded the speed limits by more than 100 percent.

The footage from the camera was decisive for the police's further investigation. In addition to the charges that had already been brought, the Eastern Jutland Police could add a further 38 charges for crazy driving. They included, among other things, illegal crossing on the rear wheel and speeding that had endangered the lives and peace of others.

Police Commissioner Amrik Singh Chadha from East Jutland Police stated: "I don't think I have ever seen anything like this. We have not previously had a similar case in East Jutland Police, and we hope that with our investigation and the many charges we have prevented innocent road users from being exposed to this kind of crazy driving in the future."

Criminal proceedings and revoked driver's rights
The case does not only lead to charges against the 29-year-old man. The police have also identified two other people from Odense and Odder, respectively, who participated in the frenzy together with the accused. Their choir uniforms have also been confiscated, and their foreret has been administratively withdrawn.

"There is no doubt that it has been a big and unconventional case for us to investigate in the Traffic Police. It has been a lot of work to go through all the video material, including finding the stretches where the violations have occurred. This has been necessary in order to clarify what the permitted speed has been on the stretches we have found on the video footage," said Amrik Singh Chadha.

Footage shared on social media
Police already had some knowledge of the 29-year-old man before the stop in May, as several of his crazy carousel videos had been shared on social media. It contributed to the fact that the man's driving and behavior in traffic were already under the police's attention.

The violations of the persons involved have had serious consequences. In addition to confiscating the motorcycles, all those involved have had their rights administratively revoked.
