25-year-old gets 2 years in prison because of old Toyota

A 25-year-old man brought himself and his customers into the police spotlight because he was driving back and forth between his customers in a Toyota with GPS.

A 25-year-old drug dealer was arrested in April after leaving traces of his older Toyota's GPS history via the navigation app Waze.

The police used the app's stored data to map where the 25-year-old man had previously been, which led to a sentence of 25 months in prison.

The police's attention was drawn in Aylesbury, a town in the south-east of England, when a Toyota was parked in a public square. It was unusual for the driver to stay in the car for a long time, which led to the patrol deciding to make contact with him.

The Bucks Free Press writes that.

When the officers approached the choir train, they quickly became suspicious and decided to conduct a thorough investigation. The man behind the wheel immediately cooperated and pointed to where he kept the drugs. In this way, ten bags of cocaine were found in the car.

During the further investigation, it emerged that the 25-year-old had used the navigation app Waze. The app's log shows previously entered addresses, and several of these turned out to be places where the police have already stopped drug addicts.

The police used the information from the GPS app's log to strengthen the case against the man, as its data could link him to several suspicious locations.

The court sentenced the 25-year-old man to two years and one month in prison. In addition to the prison sentence, he also faces possible deportation when he is released. The man is originally from Greece.

Police in Aylesbury say digital clues such as GPS data are increasingly being used as part of their drug crime investigations.

In addition to the 25-year-old, there are numerous examples of criminals who are hardly as clever. In the world of cars, the manual transmission has repeatedly proven to be an excellent anti-theft device. Read more about it here .
