20-year-old arrested – hid 22 camera traps under his bed

A wave of thefts that have hit a number of Swedish speed cameras may have been solved. The police found the cameras under a young man's bed.

A young man has been arrested and charged with the theft of 22 speed cameras. Swedish police found the cameras under the 20-year-old's bed.

The newspaper Upsala Nya Tidning writes that.

The vandalism, on which the police based an investigation, took place at the end of August. Something we could also talk about here at Boosted.

In addition to the stolen speed cameras, a further 11 were found smashed around the Swedish roads in the autumn. This prompted the Swedish Transport Agency to involve law enforcement.

All in all, 150 speed cameras have disappeared from the Swedish roads around Uppsala and Greater Stockholm. According to experts quoted by the Swedish media, the cameras in the speed traps may end up in Russia.

Here, you need to equip drones with cameras. And then Swedish speed cameras can be used.

But now the police have arrested two men who are believed to have tried to make a business of selling the technology in the camera traps on to connections in Iran. It was with one of these two men – the 20-year-old – that the 22 camera traps were found under a bed.

A total of seven people have been charged in connection with the investigation, which has now been going on for a year and a half. However, all deny being guilty of anything.

However, one of the arrested has explained that he has been forced by some Russian men to store the cameras in his home. What has happened to the cameras that the police have not been able to find is still unclear.
